The 17th Joint Summer Academy on Central and Eastern Europe, which will take place between June 30th and July 2nd in Tutzing, Germany, is organized by the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS Regensburg), in cooperation with the Akademie für Politische Bildung, Tutzing (APB) and the European Association for Comparative Economic Studies (EACES).

The topic of this year’s Summer Academy is: Historical economics: Analyzing contemporary economic institutions, outcomes, and developments against historical roots.

The organizers welcome submissions from junior scholars (Ph.D. students and Postdocs) in economics, economic history, sociology, and political economy. They are especially interested in contributions that demonstrate how history impacts economies’ resilience against shocks and in papers carrying a policy message disproving the common perception that history’s importance leaves no room for policy.
